“Our life will never be the same again.” This is what she said to her husband in May 2014. Yana said the same words to him yesterday. Back in 2014, they had left Donetsk under shelling and headed towards Kyiv. On February 24, 2022, they were already driving under explosions from Kyiv towards Zhytomyr.

They were not scared in 2014 because they had a backup plan — an apartment in Kyiv, which they bought in 2011 and rented out to a foreigner. For the first year, they found various short-term housing options for their family, with all the children and relatives, because they were sure that everything would end soon, and the family would return to Donetsk. In April 2015, Yana realized that she was tired, and they moved into an apartment.

The family started from scratch, as they had lost everything in Donetsk. Her husband's parents' business had ground to a halt, the house was bombed. Only in 2018 did they begin to return to approximately the same quality of life that they had in Donetsk. ⠀ In 2022 everything is different. They are confused. She doesn’t know where to go and what to do next. She cries and can’t believe that fate has played this cruel joke on them for the SECOND TIME. They don't have a plan B.

What's next? They don't know yet. But the children (especially Sasha) are very frightened, and at the sound of any air siren he starts to get scared, he stutters. Yana is scared for them. She doesn't want them to see WHAT WAR IS.
